In the hills of the high Var country in Provence, amongst olive trees and forests, the Estello vineyard covers an area of 22 hectares - about 54 acres. It devotes 19 hectares (47 acres) to its AOC Cotes de Provence wines, whilst 3 hectares (7 acres) are grown for its Vins de Pays.
The estate is located on one of the main roads leading in to the medieval village of Lorgues, about 30 miles (50km) from Saint Tropez, 25 miles (40km) from the Gorges du Verdon and 6 miles (10km) from the Abbey at Le Thoronet. The estate lies on a key transport and holiday route, enabling visitors to discover the renowned Cotes de Provence wines.
Originally from Angers, Gilles Malinge and his wife Benedicte had spent 20 years in business in Normandy before deciding to throw themselves into their life’s passion: wine. In 2003, after several months of training, they bought the Domaine de l’Estello, which was already well known in the area for the reputation and quality of its rose, red and white wines. Every year, the Estello wines are mentioned in professional guides and win awards in competition.
From Spring 2008 a gite will become available at the heart of the estate’s vineyard allowing holidaymakers to relax in the sunshine of Provence.
