At the gateway to the village of Lorgues, the 56 acres (23 hectares) of vines are planted in terraces or on undulating hills in chalky-clay soil and are divided into 51 acres (21 hectares) of AOC Cotes de Provence and 5 acres (2 hectares) of Vin de Pays d’Argens.
The oldest vines date from 1922 and the youngest from 2010, the average age of them being 20 years. Most of the vines are grown using the ‘palissage’ method of continuous wire support in each row.
The range of the vine stock currently comprises Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault, Mourvedre, Rolle, and the white Ugni grape, and these are all separately picked during the harvest season, providing us with different ways of blending our wines.
Concern for our environment, and how the soil should be worked, means that we favour organic fertilizer, and the mild climate of Provence means that we can keep to the bare minimum any treatment needed to counteract disease.
